Hi! I’m Hilary! You may recognize me as being the Program Architect for Community Roots Day Camp for Summer 2018. Community Roots Day Camp is back for its second summer of faith and fun, and I am so excited to be back in this position to continue this important ministry. If you're new here, or if you aren't sure of who I am, but you'd like to learn more about me, you can read my introductory blog post from Summer 2018.
Community Roots has a busy summer ahead delivering faith-based summer camp programming across the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. It is wonderful to see so many parishes hosting camps, some who have hosted camps last summer, as well as many new parishes hosting camps for the first time. These parishes have countless volunteers stepping forward to do good work in their communities, and Community Roots Day Camp would not be possible without the help of volunteers and various other community members. This is such an exciting time for us and the communities we serve as we continue in conversations of community, engage in relationship building, and of course, FUN!
Summer camp holds so much wonder and excitement for campers of all ages, and Community Roots Day Camp is no exception. We will explore, wonder, create, play, and worship together in community. We will build relationships with each other and the community around us. We will learn and grow together, and hopefully experience the love of God along the way.
Last summer, I was able to grow in faith and community, and learn so many important and valuable skills. I am thrilled to be working in this ministry again, and I look forward to what this summer holds for me, as well as for the campers, volunteers, and communities who are integral to making these camps a success.
