Many churches are shrinking and aging, struggling to reach young people. In the United States, church leaders see empty seats where teenagers and young adults used to be. And they wonder whether young people are just done with church.
But despite the bad news, there are hundreds of innovative, faithful churches that are breaking the mould. They are growing, and growing young. These churches hold fast to 6 core commitments, all of which allow young people to draw near to community and to Jesus.
One of the 6 core commitments is Keychain Leadership: leadership that generates more leaders with the right balance of coaching and responsibilities. Our research tells us that young people love it when a leader “shares the keys” with them.
But how do you do it? What elements of keychain leadership really draw teenagers and young adults? How do you help your congregation implement a leadership that multiplies itself?
